In the world of electronic music, it’s not just about the beats—it’s about the connection, the energy, and the drive to create something that resonates with others. For Kenneth Coppola, better known by his stage name Kenvolt, that drive has been with him since 2014. Based in Harrisonburg, Virginia, he’s made waves in the house music scene with his electrifying sets and growing discography. Whether it's playing intimate bar gigs or festival stages, his goal remains the same: to share his energy with the world.

This is our second time interviewing Kenvolt, and it’s clear that a lot has changed since we last caught up. He’s grown both as an artist and as a person, with even bigger aspirations and more accomplishments under his belt. We caught up with him to talk about his journey, the challenges, and the moments that have shaped his career. Here’s what he had to share about his path and his philosophy as an artist.

Kenvolts passion for house music continues to shape his sound and his performances. For him, house music isn’t just a style—it’s an energy, a way to connect with others, and a medium to bring people together.

How and when did your journey in music begin?

Kenvolt’s story in music began back in 2014, but it wasn’t just a random moment of inspiration. "My father and brothers are all talented with instruments, and I wanted to find something that suited me." His family’s musical influence sparked his interest, but it wasn’t until he started downloading music and experimenting with mixing that he truly found his calling. He bought a cheap DJ board, and soon after, his first bar gig came his way, marking the beginning of what has become a full-fledged career. It was at that moment Kenvolt knew he was on the right path.

"Months later, I got my first bar gig, which started everything," he recalls. That early gig set the foundation for everything that was to come.

What inspired you to start producing music?

Starting as an open-format DJ and now a house music artist, Kenvolt has always been driven to create music that’s truly his own. Many of his idols are DJs and producers who craft their own tracks, and that was the spark he needed to start his journey into music production. The desire to make something personal, authentic, and true to himself pushed him to learn production and build his own sound. "I have always wanted to have music that is from me, and many of my idols are DJs/Producers who have their own music," he shares. For him, music production was a natural progression, moving from playing tracks to creating something that would represent his unique vision.

What can your fans expect from you in the near future? Are there any upcoming releases or collaborations we should know about?

Kenvolt is always working on new material, and he has some exciting things lined up for his fans. "I do have more originals and new mixes coming!" he promises. He’s constantly evolving his sound, so fans can expect new music that captures the high energy and passion he’s known for.

What has been the proudest moment of your career so far?

One of the standout moments in Kenvolt’s career was opening for Borgeous at Ember Music Hall in Richmond, Virginia. He recalls it being a significant milestone—a proud moment that confirmed his place in the scene. But Kenvolt’s journey has been shaped by more than just big gigs.

Do you have a specific performance or project that you feel changed the course of your career?

In 2019, Kenvolt got an unexpected call on the day of Shamrockfest in D.C. when one of the openers had backed out. He was lucky enough to have his laptop with him and was given the opportunity to perform, marking his first festival performance. A month later, he had the chance to perform a back-to-back set with his closest friend at UP & UP festival in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where they opened for Deerock and Slushii. These two shows were pivotal moments, fueling Kenvolt’s desire to continue rising in the scene. "Two performances made me feel a shift in my career. Shamrockfest in D.C. was my first festival, and then, the next month, I played a back-to-back set at UP & UP festival opening for Deerock and Slushii," he recalls. "It felt like a real turning point."

How do you engage with your fans outside of your music, and why is that connection important?

For Kenvolt, connecting with fans is about more than just playing music—it’s about making people feel appreciated. He often engages with fans by thanking them for showing up to his shows or tuning into his live streams. He aims to make them feel like they’re a part of the experience, even after the music stops. "Just chat with them and thank them for showing out or tuning in! Make them feel like they're a part of it even at events, and have fun with them even after your set!" he shares. Creating those personal connections is what makes the music and the journey all the more meaningful.

How do you stay inspired when things get tough? What keeps you going?

Kenvolt admits that staying inspired is always challenging. But he remembers why he started DJing in the first place. "I love EDM—it makes me happy. Seeing people having fun, enjoying themselves, and making memories—that’s what keeps me going." For him, the energy of the crowd and the connection through music are what push him to keep going, no matter the obstacles.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? What would be your dream show?

Kenvolt’s dream venue is none other than Echostage here in D.C., a place where he saw Tiesto perform in 2015."If I could perform anywhere, it would be at Echostage. After seeing Tiesto there, I realized the possibilities of what a DJ can do," he says. He also mentioned, "My dream show would be to perform at Ushuaia in Ibiza, Spain, right at sunset."

What is your personal philosophy or motto when it comes to creating music and building your career?

Kenvolt’s philosophy is simple, he believes in enjoying the journey, building meaningful relationships along the way, and, most importantly, having fun. His focus isn’t solely on reaching the top—it’s about growing as an artist, connecting with others, and staying grounded throughout the process.

"It’s not a race. Enjoy the journey, build relationships, and most importantly, have fun!"

Why Kenvolt?

Kenvolt's stage name is more than just a moniker—it’s a reflection of his commitment to bringing energy to every performance. "I always want to bring awesome energy and share that with the crowd," he explains. His goal is to create unforgettable moments with every show, connecting with his audience and leaving them with a lasting memory.

Kenvolt is always striving to do more, whether that’s a college bar, opening for more artists or performing at larger music festivals. He’s focused on growth and connection, and he wants to continue learning and improving as he moves forward in his career. "I want to connect with as many people as possible and keep learning and improving along the way," he says.
